We have recently incorporated an entity in Switzerland so I am in the process of setting up the various benefits.
We have been advised that citizens have a mandatory requirement to have their own health insurance so no need for any employer involvement. However, candidates are expressing an expectation that we provide access to a group plan (to benefit from a discounted premium) or to pay for their premium.
I'm keen to understand what the local market practice is and would really appreciate anything you are able to share.
Thanks in advance,
Deenah
Hello Christiane, Nicky,
We're now considering a contribution towards the cost. Have you gone for a cash amount or a % of cost?
Thanks in advance, Deenah
Hi Deenah, we transitioned away from a group insurance scheme to providing a cash allowance approx 4 years ago when we had a large population of employees. This was based on understanding many companies provided a cash allowance. The transition went well and new employees joining the company acknowledge cash allowance is usual.
Hi Deenah,
we have a bit more than 100 EEs in Switzerland and hear similar requests but we are too small to setup a group plan. I also hear the administration coming with it is high. We opted for a monthly allowance every employee gets to contribute to their private plan.
Hope this helps
Thanks very much Rachel and James.
I have very canny negotiators on my hands is my issue. They've been hired for their negotiation skills!
