Just looking for a steer on what fellow colleagues are doing when it comes to supporting employees with electric car home charging points? I appreciate they can claim for 75% of the cost, up to £350, through the OLEV grant leaving a balance of circa £250 for the employee to pay. Do you offer any financial to support over and above the grant? For example, reimburse the remaining balance or a percentage of the balance? If so, do you expect this to be repaid should the employee leave the business?
Additionally, if you do support them financially, how do you process the payment, through the payroll subject to statutory deductions or via expenses?
Thanks
Hi Gregg. I’ve just relaunched our job need scheme and will be covering the standard installation costs of a home charging point to try and incentivise colleagues to order a fully electric or plug in hybrid. We are committed to greatly reducing our fleet emissions over the next 3 year cycle. There are also no benefit in kind tax issues related to us paying these costs which is great. Happy to discuss. Ian
Hi gregg, I launched an electric car policy last year that included us funding the charge points for drivers to get them set up. Happy to have a chat about it if you want?
