Has anyone got any experience of introducing electric cars as a flexible benefit offering to employees? If so, would you recommend any providers and any things to consider if implementing?
Thanks

Potentially worth considering multiple providers depending on what is likely to be appropriate to your employees. The EV world is moving VERY quickly and some employers are exploring both subscription (typically monthly to quarterly) and traditional lease model. The subscription models can be provided directly by OEMs (e.g. Geely Group subsids) or independently of OEMs (e.g. @DriveOnto) offering multiple brands and can be a low-risk for EE and ER way of testing the concept (people rarely go back. once they've used EVs for a month). If looking at EVs do consider the full suite of flex offerings as providers develop (ie [electric] charging and/or parking 'at or near' the workplace can be done tax free if structured correctly, as can the installation of domestic chargers), as well as updating T&E policies and ideally workplace charging.
Thanks everyone, we are also looking to award a contract over the next few weeks then go live Jan. For those who have been up and running a while, how do you find the admin processes, any issues to flag and likewise any issues with leavers or early terminations ? My concern a little is so many of us are looking to introduce will the suppliers be able to meet demand and provide a good service for our employees
Hi Steven, we launched with Tusker on Tuesday this week and we’ve had around 1% employee take up already. Please let me know if you’d like to discuss further Lucy.dockerty@autotrader.co.uk
We partnered with Tusker approx. 3 years ago. Initially our scheme offered any vehicle sub 100 CO2 per kg and in June this year we reduced this to pure ULEV sub 75 CO2 per kg - this still gives a wide choice of vehicles and the majority of our employees were already ordering at this level because of the tax savings on EVs. Tusker's scheme can be as low risk as you want it to be as they allow you to build in your own protection levels against leavers, early terminations, maternity etc. and we have had no issues with this. I am happy to recommend Tusker.
