Im looking for advice and feedback on your companies definition of 'essential user'.
Were looking at whether it might be possible to remove the 'perk' cars from our fleet, but in order to achieve that need to be able to comfortably define someone who is an essential user. Ive looked at minimum number of journeys (difficult to administer) and minimum miles travelled as well as if the role is client facing.
We have fleet in most countries in the EMEA and LATAM regions, but would be interested to hear how you define 'essential user'
Grateful for any feedback, thank you
Lorna
For us its an expectation of driving at least 8,000 business miles in a year.
An essential user means that the role requires someone to be "on the road", whether that's regular short journeys (mobile technician) or longer but perhaps less frequent ones (sales, area management etc). Ballpark, 200 miles a week or in the car 4bdats a week on average
Thank you that's really useful still. I appreciate your reply.
Hi Lorna. We only have UK based employee and have re-defined our 'Job Need' eligibility over the last 18 months. We now have a requirement to do 7500 business miles a year or, if you're not going to hit that, be using the vehicle for a minimum of 60% of your working hours per week. Hope that helps
