Life assurance (death in service) and underwriting in Dubai

We're looking at our life assurance scheme in our Dubai office and currently benefit is restricted where it exceeds the free cover limit. (Employees know about this restriction.) Our broker has advised that this is standard practice, and that it's very rare to offer employees the option to go for medical underwriting. Keen to know if that's your experience too, especially in professional services?

Thank you

The typical clause that we got in life contract in the UAE is: For amounts of insurance in excess of AED xxx, an employee must submit evidence of insurability satisfactory to the Insurance
Company. Such excess coverage will not become effective until the Insurance Company submits written notification to the Policyholder stipulating the effective date of the approval of
and the amount of excess coverage for the employee.
