Hi,
I'm looking to hear from anyone who has successfully changed from a benefit platform to using Workday for benefits? There was a post from 2022 on this with many people considering it so I'm wondering if anyone can share how their transition went? Anything to be mindful of? We are a global organisation, although biggest population in the UK.
thanks a lot
Fiona
Hello Fiona,
In my last role, we went from an external benefits enrollment platform (not an HRIS) to the Workday (WD) Benefits module as part of a full-scale WD rollout. While I would recommend the system, a few considerations from my experience:
- User interface: I like the user interface; it is simple and fresh. However, not all aspects of the system's processes are intuitive (meaning not easy to just pick up). We had to create some training pieces for some of the more "clunky" aspects of the system not everything is very straightforward.
- System configuration: We had support from an external vendor to help set up our system. I would highly recommend this if you do not have internal WD experts. My team went through the training to be administrators and still needed a lot of support in building the system from scratch.
- Rigidity: It is not a system that you can easily configure outside the standard functionality. If you need a lot of flexibility, this may become an issue.
- The WD Community (a site of WD clients and experts) is a great resource and will become your lifeline.
Happy to discuss further if you need any support. Thank you
Hi Fiona
My experience is probably a bit more unique compared to others as I went through a 'condensed' implementation of Workday Benefits (well under 6 months) in my last role. We only rolled out benefits for our US population due to payroll moving to Workday.
Although the user interface is refreshing and quite appealing, I do think the general user journey needs work. It's not the most intuitive system from an employee perspective, requiring multiple click throughs to make selections. Please bear in mind that my experience is of US benefits and we didn't roll it out to any other countries at the time.
My preference is for a standalone benefits platform that would integrate with Workday so that payroll information feeds through while you can focus on all the frills involved of using a dedicate benefits technology platform (e.g. Aon's TBS, Darwin, Benefex etc.)
